RC Fun Run
I meant to post this a while back, but I kept forgetting to finish it. Seems to be happening to me a lot lately. Anyway, back in September, we went to North Carolina so my husband and son could play with remote control trucks. Not exactly my hobby of choice, but they enjoy it. Instead of staying behind, I like to go for a few reasons. One, I get to see my boys have fun and play together. Two, usually these events are held in state parks, which have great scenery. Three, I get to move around and practice my photography.
We were lucky that the event was being held at a Badin Lake Group Campground, so we didn't have to worry about traveling between our camp site and the event. Badin Lake is part of the National Forests of North Carolina. It was our first time in the area. The campground was nice with decent sized lots and included the basic hookups and amenities. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather during this trip.
This particular RC event was a fun run instead of competition, so my son was able to practice driving his truck around. I'm pretty sure he was the youngest driver out there. One of my husband's friends also came out for the event. We pretty much hiked all day both Saturday and Sunday. There were multiple courses to go through and the organizers created awesome tracks.
This was a great weekend getaway and we only drove a few hours to get there. I'm sure we will be back next year.
